How we help

Tracing heirs and family history

Migration, changing surnames and lost family contact can leave important gaps in a Polish property matter. We begin with verifiable information and a focused research question.

When family research becomes part of a property matter

A family may know the name of a former property owner without knowing what happened to their children or other relatives. Records may refer to a town with a different present-day name, or to a surname written in several ways.

We first clarify the starting person and their connection with the property. Finding someone with the same surname is not enough to establish a family relationship. The question is which links can be supported by reliable records.

A research plan built around the missing links

We review the information and documents already available, organise names, dates and places, and identify gaps in the family history. The research is connected with the purpose of the property enquiry rather than an open-ended attempt to collect every branch of a family tree.

Further work is planned around specific questions: which person needs to be identified, which relationship needs to be checked and what record might support it. The scope and terms are agreed after the starting material has been assessed.

Keep confirmed facts separate from possible leads

Family memories and online trees can provide leads, but they still need to be checked. We identify uncertainty rather than filling missing generations with assumptions. Where a document is unavailable online, that does not by itself settle whether the relevant information can be found.

Genealogical findings do not replace legal advice or a formal inheritance determination. Independent lawyers handle legal services under separate terms when required. Our initial assessment is free, with a reply within 7 days of receiving your enquiry; no research outcome is guaranteed.

What to include in your enquiry

  • The starting person’s name and any known spelling variations.
  • Approximate dates, places and countries connected with the family.
  • How the person relates to the property or matter you want to clarify.
  • A description of existing records and the links that remain uncertain.

Please do not send identity document scans, national identification numbers or complete case files through the open form. We can agree how to provide any necessary records later.

Questions before you contact us

Can I enquire with only a surname and a place?

Yes. We can assess whether that information gives a useful starting point and what is missing. It does not guarantee a successful search.

Does a matching surname establish a family link?

No. We look for verifiable connections between people, events and documents rather than relying on the surname alone.
